How to send us files
Step 1: Create an extract ('Model File')
- You do not need LDA III, but you must be using LINC 15.3 or higher. Make sure the system has been fully generated for syntax only.
- From the LEX screen (available in supervisor mode), ask for an LDA III 1.3 or greater Extract file. (LDA III in LINC 16.2)
If LDA III 1.3 [or greater] is not an option, in LINC 16.1 and below:
- Sign on to the GLOBAL specification
- Go to the Supervisor screen
- Enter "LDA13 ON" [or greater] and transmit
- If you are on an A Series, convert the file to ASCII using DUMPALL setting the output file EXTMODE attribute to ASCII.
Step 2: Transfer the model to a PC
- Use a file transfer utility of your choice, but be sure to transfer the file in binary mode -- and with no compression.
Once on a PC, use PKZIP level 2.04g or higher to reduce the size of the file. Example:
pkzip -ex sample.zip sample.mdl
will zip the model file called "sample.mdl" into a zipped file called "sample.zip".
Step 3: Transfer the model to IEG
The most effective way to transport files to us is to place them on our secure FTP site. If your browser is MS Internet Explorer, you can select and send files from our
Send Models to IEG page.
Otherwise, You can use Windows95 FTP or WS_FTP. Here are the necessary parameters:
- Hostname: ftp.ieg-inc.com
- Usercode: anonymous
- Password: otto@entry.com
- Directory: client/incoming
The transfers must be in binary mode. Once you have placed the files in the directory, they will not be visible except to IEG personnel. If a file of the same name already exists, the transfer will fail.
Step 4: Let us know that you've sent us file(s).
Use the Email button at left indicating:
- Your organization's name.
- Your name, phone and email address.
- The name(s) of the file(s) you placed on our FTP site.
- If you are requesting a service, the IEG service you desire.
Important Note:
If you are sending models for the IM service, please also send the source that LINC generates for the database(s).
